It is native to southeastern Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus. Around 1870, it was introduced into Shandong, China, and Zhucheng began to introduce and breed red Fuji apples since 1982, introducing a total of five monolineages of Changfu 1, Changfu 2, Changfu 6, Qiufu 1 and Yanfu 10, becoming one of the earliest counties and cities in Shandong Province to develop red Fuji apple production. In recent years, it has been widely cultivated in Liaoning and North China and Northwest China.
